Don't worry about the complex name.. all it really means is that water has a tipping point. It wants to be perfectly balanced. If it isn't, it either becomes corrosive (eating away at your expensive heaters and plaster) or scale-forming (leaving ugly calcium crust on your beautiful tile work).
